The Standard First Aid and CPR C course offered by ACT First Aid is designed to provide comprehensive training in accordance with WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) regulations. This course is an approved affiliation of the Life Saving Society of Ontario and Code 8 EMS, ensuring that participants receive high-quality training that meets industry standards.
The Standard First Aid and CPR C course is a two-day program, totaling approximately 16 hours of instruction. The course is specifically structured to provide participants with a thorough understanding of first aid techniques and CPR procedures.
The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
1. Primary Assessment and CPR:
- Recognizing an emergency situation
- Understanding the Emergency Medical System (EMS)
- Primary assessment of an unconscious person
- Adult, child, and infant CPR techniques
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
2. Airway and Breathing Emergencies:
- Choking (conscious and unconscious victims)
- Asthma and allergic reactions
- Hyperventilation and respiratory distress
3. Cardiovascular Emergencies:
- Heart attack
4. Musculoskeletal Injuries:
- Sprains and strains
5. Medical Emergencies:
- Diabetic emergencies
- Allergic reactions
6. Environmental Emergencies:
- Heat-related emergencies
Upon successful completion of the Standard First Aid and CPR C course, participants will receive certification that is valid for three years. This certification is recognized by employers, WSIB, and other regulatory bodies.
