Heart Attack 

A heart attack is the death of a segment of heart muscle caused by a loss of blood supply. The blood is usually cut off when an artery supplying the heart muscle is blocked by a blood clot. If some of the heart muscle dies, a person experiences chest pain and electrical instability of the heart muscle tissue.

Signs and Symptoms 

- Pain or pressure in the chest 

- Pain in the neck, shoulder, back or jaw 

- Trouble breathing,shortness of breath 

- Flushed face, sweating 

- Anxiety, fear 

- Denial of symptoms 

- Shock 

- Confusion 

- Nausea 

Treatment 

1. Assess responsiveness, maintain and        open airway, assess breathing 

2. Contact EMS 

3. Assist victim into a comfortable position

4. Help victim take their medication they          may have. If you have access to                  aspirin give 1 tablet  

5. Loosen clothing around the neck and          chest  

6. Treat for shock
